Building on more than a decade of experience in 3D imaging, the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D bundles 2D and 3D functionalities for greater intraoperative control, thereby decreasing the need for postoperative CT scans, and reducing costly revision surgeries.
With rising cost pressures and shrinking hospital budgets, operating rooms are continuously challenged with optimizing equipment utilization while handling variable case mix. A full-blown fixed interventional hybrid suite may not always be the solution to these challenges due to space and budget constraints. Enter the Ziehm Vision RFD 3D: The revolution in 3D imaging.
The Mobile Interventional X-ray System
“The Vision RFD 3D is a game-changer, offering 2D and 3D capabilities in one mobile device—it is designed for multidisciplinary use for a wide variety of clinical cases”, says Martin Roy, President and CEO, Christie Innomed. “With the addition of this C-arm to their existing solutions, hospitals now have greater flexibility in planning their OR schedule; the system is ideally suited for orthopedics, traumatology and spinal surgeries, but also for demanding cardio-vascular hybrid applications”. Available with 30 cm x 30 cm flat-panel detector and enhanced with Ziehm’s SmartDose[1] concept, the Vision RFD 3D allows for excellent image quality with a lower dose, which was not previously available on mobile systems.
By configuring the C-arm with additional visualization tools and options, like the Advanced SmartVascular Package with DSA, MSA and RSA (road mapping), the Vision RFD 3D is better prepared for interdisciplinary use, especially in hybrid room applications or demanding multi-trauma cases.
Improving patient outcomes in the OR
With its patented SmartScan technology, the Vision RFD 3D enables 180 degrees image acquisition in CT-like image quality while maintaining the benefits of the smaller conventional 2D C-arm. It is the only surgical C-arm worldwide that offers this capability, allowing for up to 7 vertebrae to be imaged in a single 3D scan.
“3D imaging enables better patient outcomes compared to conventional mobile 2D C-arms; as a result significantly outweighing the higher investment cost of these systems. By offering CT-like reconstruction, surgeons can easily check the results of their surgical strategy intraoperatively, without having to wait on results of postoperative CT scans. This unprecedented capability helps avoid unnecessary revision surgeries, freeing up valuable OR time and will ultimately help address lengthy wait times for spine surgery. Ultimately, this benefits both patients and health institutions” says Olivier Poitier, Director of Medical Imaging at Christie Innomed.
In addition, the Ziehm NaviPort interface seamlessly connects the Vision RFD 3D to the navigation systems of leading providers. This combination of intraoperative 3D imaging and image-guided navigation systems enables less-invasive surgical approaches, shorter hospital stays and improved patient outcomes.
Improved interventional workflow with a Mobile Hybrid OR
One of the first mobile C-arms to offer full motorization in four axes, the Vision RFD 3D gives the surgeon total control during demanding cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. In addition, the system’s small footprint allows for easy positioning during various procedures, effortless transitions from one OR to the other, hence improving surgical planning and patient management.
Moreover all Ziehm Imaging C-arms feature Advanced Active Cooling (AAC), a unique liquid cooling system which keeps the powerful 25 kW generator at an optimum operational temperature, thus preventing clinical procedure interruption due to system overheating.
The Ziehm Vision RFD 3D System is approved by Health Canada. To bring this next-generation imaging system to market faster, Christie Innomed aims to partner with surgical navigation system leaders. To this end, Christie Innomed has secured its first co-marketing agreement with Stryker for the promotion of the Vision 3D RFD to the Canadian market.
